On behalf of the TAIR Executive Committee, I want to thank you for your membership and support of TAIR. Throughout the year, the TAIR Executive Committee works hard to identify and meet the professional development needs of our members. This year we have an excellent group of nominees for multiple positions including President, Vice-President/President-Elect, Treasurer, Communications Officer, and members of the Nominating Committee. A “Voter’s Guide”, with pictures and bios for each candidate, was sent to the listserv earlier this week, however we realize there some members who are still unable to receive emails from the listserv. Over the past couple of years we have followed the lead of the national (AIR) and regional (SAIR) organizations by moving from a paper ballot to an on-line, electronic ballot. This year we are continuing the move to mirror those voting and election procedures by having voting end prior to the start of the conference. This decision came after several long and thoughtful conversations among members of the Committee weighing the pros and cons of different options. In the end, it was decided that the benefits of the earlier voting deadline (e.g. newly elected officers can plan to shadow existing officers during the conference, more time to prepare for the transition, etc.) justify the transition. All candidates will be recognized during the “Welcome Dinner” on the first night of the conference (Monday, Feb 27th ) with winners announced during the luncheon on the second day (Tuesday, Feb 28th).
Voting for the TAIR 2023 Elections will begin on February 20th, 2019 (Monday) and end on February 28th, 2023 before the luncheon (Tuesday). A link to the electronic ballot will be sent from Qualtrics on Feb 20th. The link you receive is unique to each member, however procedures are in place to protect the anonymity of your vote. If you do not receive your link to the ballot on Monday, please let me know as soon as possible so we can work to get one to you. Reminder emails about voting will be sent directly to you as well as to the TAIR listserv.
We look forward to seeing many of you at the TAIR 2023 Annual Conference in just a few weeks and continuing to work with all of our members over the coming year.
