Category: Best Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Institutional Research
The winner will be announced during the 2026 TAIR Annual Conference.
Purpose
This award recognizes excellence in the innovative application of AI to enhance institutional research practices. Submissions should demonstrate how AI has been used to solve problems, improve operational efficiency, improve student outcomes, or generate impactful insights—in an innovative, secure, ethical, and effective manner.
Eligibility
- The AI application must be created or co-created by at least one current TAIR member at the time of submission.
- Collaborative projects with non-members are welcome, but at least one creator must be a TAIR member.
Submission Requirements
Include the following materials:
Project Overview
- Name, title, and institution of the person(s) submitting.
- Purpose of the application (problem addressed, process improved, desired output, etc.).
Technical Details
- Description of the application and the AI tools used.
- Steps taken to ensure security, compliance, accuracy, and ethical practices.
Impact Assessment
- Description of outcomes.
- Metrics used to measure success/impact.
Optional Supporting Materials
- Screenshots, prompt snippets, documentation, etc.
How to Submit
- Deadline: January 2, 2026 (late submissions will not be accepted).

Judging Criteria
- Overall impact of the AI application
- Relevance to other institutions
- Originality/Creativity
- Detail (accuracy, documentation)
